Conservators of the Peace in the Commonwealth of Virginia may provide law enforcement and security services to select communities or entities within the judicial circuit to which they have been appointed. Those entities that employ them may be considered a criminal justice agency pursuant to the Code of Virginia Ann. 9.1-101 ‘Criminal Justice Agency.' Conservators of the Peace who are appointed under Virginia Code Ann. 19.2-13 typically serve (4) four year terms. We currently serve a population of approximately 10,000 residents.
